PROJECT #4_Create a Painting in New Context

project4.pdf

—–

1.Read the following essays:

Contenporary, Common, Context, Criticism

Lawson_Last Exit Painting

Douglas Crimp_The End of Painting

All have specific critiques and defenses of the medium.

Analyze these varied dispositions, and decipher which, if any, most closely coincides with your personal outlooks on the medium.

2.Reflect on your first assignment, in which you composed a personal definition of painting.

Analyze this definition under the most critical of lenses.

Does the definition still coincide with your views?

Taking into consideration the material covered in this course, and specifically these recent 3 essays, how does your definition compare to the views presented.

3. Construct a work that YOU consider a PAINTING IN NEW CONTEXT.

In what way is your work a NEW CONTEXT of Painting? idiom/exhibition/medium/etc.

How does your final definition/disposition of painting compare to the viewpoints presented through the semester?

Finished work must possess a working title.

Be prepared to re-present your updated definition of painting.
